About

I was born in Chiba, Japan and moved to Santa Rosa, California when I was ten years old. I did not speak any English, but I was able to learn the language quickly with the support from friends and teachers. When I was fifteen, I moved to New York City where I live now.

I have always had an interest in art. When I was little, I would draw my family members, cartoons I see on television, etc. However, the event that led me to begin practicing art seriously was when I visited Charles M. Schulz Museum when I was eleven. He is a cartoonist who created the comic strip Peanuts. In the museum, there were displays of early comic strips, rough drafts of Snoopy and Charlie Brown, and the desk he used to work on the comic. I loved seeing the process of how Peanuts comic came to be and the distinct art style that anyone can recognize. After the visit, I told myself that I would become a cartoonist when I grow up. I started practicing drawing different Peanuts characters, and later, I began creating my own story using Peanuts characters.

When I was fourteen, I shifted from drawing cartoons to creating observational drawings. I practiced using different graphite pencils, color pencils, watercolor and acrylics to articulate the details I see in real life. This includes food, people, and any other objects.

Now, I create different types of art such as abstract, multimedia, observational, stop-motion video, and many more.
Aside from creating art, I like to read, visit art and historical museums, hike, and travel.

I hope to continue developing more creative skills and explore different types of art!
